Girah in Legal Trouble with Lock Poker

Heavy users of download free poker sites will know the story of Jose Macedo’s rise to stardom and subsequent crash and burn. His reputation, along with those of his backers (Haseeb “DogIsHead” Qureshi and Daniel “Jungleman” Cates), has been ruined for good.

Macedo vowed to give back the $30k he recently scammed during some heads-up poker matches. But recently Lock Poker, a site that offers a myriad of poker bonuses, decided that they would sue Macedo.

Chad Elie and Bradley Franzen Plead Not Guilty

The Department of Justice has given an indictment to eleven people involved with payments to and from Full Tilt, PokerStars, and the Cereus sites. The alleged crimes committed include money laundering and conspiracy to commit bank fraud. Payment processors that served the three money poker sites are also among those charged.

Bradley Franzen chose to plea not guilty to a US magistrate in New York. Franzen is a payment processor and has been accused of creating fake businesses and sites in order to hide transactions with poker sites. He is also accused of tricking banks about these transactions.

FBI agents saw Franzen surrender himself in New York yesterday. He was released on a $200k bond that was secured by the home of his parents. If he is found guilty of conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, he could receive up to 30 years in prison.

Also pleading guilty is Chad Elie, another payment processor for online poker rooms. Charged for bank/wire fraud and money laundering, he was arrested on the 15th in Las Vegas. Like Franzen, he has been accused of tricking banks about transactions to poker sites.

Elie was due to get married the day after… READ MORE
