Participate in the PokerStars Turbo Takedown

Tournament players always look forward to the last weekend of the month because it means being able to play the Turbo Takedown. You need 3k FPPs to buy-in to this event, but it is more than worth it as it features a $1 million prize pool. And let’s not forget about the Audi TT, one of the most coveted bonus prizes in all of online poker.

The PokerStars download hosts this exclusive event at 15:30 EST, making it accessible for both North Americans and Europeans. Look in the Special section of the tournament lobby to find the event and register. If you do not have 3,000 FPPs to spend, your only alternative is FPP satellites. View your satellite options by selecting Satellite and then FPP in the tourney section of the lobby.

The field is limited to 25,000 people, and a whopping 5,000 people make the money! Experienced players will recognize that this is quite impressive since the majority of online tournaments don’t pay over 20% of the field. If your bankroll for online poker rooms is rather small at the moment, this tournament gives you a great chance of getting something back for your FPP investment.

Schedule Set for Full Tilt’s MiniFTOPS XIX

Low stakes tournament players waited patiently for FTOPS XIX to finish and now their time to shine has come. The 19th version of MiniFTOPS starts in just over a week, hosting tournaments identical to those in this past FTOPS but at stakes much smaller. If you are a beginner, now is a great time to use a Full Tilt Poker referral code and compete for a piece of the $8 million guaranteed prize pool.

This version of MiniFTOPS differs a lot from previous MiniFTOPS series. Full Tilt’s exclusive multi-entry events make it possible to increase the guaranteed prize pools for certain events. The Main Event is a case in point – it has a $75 buy-in and an impressive prize pool minimum of $1.25 million! Experienced multi-tablers won’t be bored while this event runs as they will be able to register up to six times. Due to multi-entries, this tourney will probably surpass its guarantee by a large amount.

Making its MiniFTOPS debut is the 2-day No Limit Heads Up event on the 12th of March. Featuring a $100k prize pool, the $1,000+$60 buy-in is the series’ highest and is probably not affordable for the average MiniFTOPS player. If… READ MORE

Anti-Poker Senator To Retire in 2012

Veteran Senator and long time online poker opponent, Jon Kyl, has announced that he will not stand for re-election in 2012. The Arizonan senator has been in office for 18 years, but will be well known to online poker players as the man who has virulently opposed all attempts to legalize the game in the United States.

He was, in fact, part of the posse that began the upheaval of the U.S. market in the first place. When the UIGEA passed into law in 2006, Kyl was one of its major proponents. Since then he has taken every opportunity to take a shot at money poker sites, often claiming that it presents a serious danger to the nation’s children.

Last year, he was reported to have blocked the routine appointment of three U.S. Treasury  staff in protest over a delay on UIGEA regulations. His staunch refusal to give any quarter on the subject of online casino gambling won him many enemies among the poker player masses. His imminent departure is seen as a major boost to the potential for fully legal online poker in the U.S.

As the Senator for Arizona, there has been some speculation as to… READ MORE

Ladbrokes Hosts Valentine’s Day MTT

If you are dreading Valentine’s Day because you do not have a significant other, be aware that you are one among many. Let me then tell you that Ladbrokes understands and has something in mind for you for February 14th.

You download free poker with an expectation that you might win some extra money, but I bet you never expected to win toys or cosmetics. For £10, you can enter the Dateless MTT at 10:30 UK time. Since this is a bounty tournament only half of your buy-in goes to the prize pool, but Ladbrokes will even add £250 to the prize pool on top of that.

Everyone will win bounties and cash prizes as usual for a tournament, but then the people finishing in the top five will also receive Valentine’s Day bonus prizes. If you are a guy and you want to keep the prize for yourself, you will receive a lovely radio controlled mini helicopter with a built in gyro. This model is specially designed to fly indoors. It includes flashing lights and has a control range of 200 feet so that you can really see it soar.

If you need a gift for a female… READ MORE

Play in FTOPS XIX on Full Tilt

Are you ready for some poker excitement? FTOPS XIX is finally here, and it comes as no surprise that it is bigger and better than the before. The 45 events in this series has a combined guaranteed prize pool of $22 million, which is increased from $19 million and 34 events in the last FTOPS. When you realize that this Full Tilt series started over four years ago with only eight events and $1 million in guaranteed prize pools, the fact that it has become so huge is a great accomplishment for tournament poker!

If tourneys are your best game, you should definitely create an account and submit a Full Tilt referral code. The Main Event features the largest guarantee of the series: $3 million for a $640 buy-in. This guarantee is the biggest the Main Event has ever received, and this is because it has turned into a Multi-Entry tournament. This means that players are allowed to play the tournament multiple times at once under the same screen name.

If you get a thrill from playing for giant prize pools, consider the 2-day event that takes place on February 19th. It is a 6-max event with a $2… READ MORE

Greg Raymer Leaves PokerStars

News has broken off a shock departure from the PokerStars Pro ranks. 2004 World Series Main Event champion, Greg Raymer, has reportedly parted company with the world’s largest online poker site. There has been no official announcement from either player or company, but Raymer made a short statement on the popular poker form 2+2 confirming the news.

Since winning poker’s biggest prize in 2004, the player known to many as “Fossilman” has been a regular at poker tournaments around the world and at the best online poker tournaments on PokerStars. His name had become almost synonymous with the site, as have so many other former WSOP champs. The PokerStars Pro roster still includes Joe Hachem, Joe Cada, Jonathan Duhamel, Tom McEvoy, and Chris Moneymaker. All Main Event bracelet holders.

Raymer confirmed his departure on 2+2, but declined from revealing any details:

There has been a lot of discussion about my representation of PokerStars, and it is true that right now I am not representing them. In the near future, I will have a more detailed statement discussing this situation, but I have no further comment at this time. For those of you who have been reading about and discussing
